With the new year comes a lot of changes over here at Focal Length Designs. The holiday season was a wild success, and I'm grateful to the many people in both San Francisco and Portland (and abroad) who supported my efforts in December. But in November I made a very tough decision to stop making camera lens bracelets after the holiday season.

I wear many hats, and at times I have to rearrange them all to make sure the hippest ones are on top during the right season. This summer, it's all about re-centering my priorities and maintaining productivity. Over Spring, I took a long break from Facebook and realized how much time it sucked out of my day and how much more I could accomplish when I wasn't compulsively refreshing my news feed. In the same way, I'm spending this summer focusing on maintaining that balance between business productivity, community-building, personal time and relationship time. And while I have a long way to go, I'm making a lot of headway.
Some of the good things that are coming out of this: more time to write (and more personal blog activity, whatever that means), more time to keep my Etsy shop stocked, more time to relax, and more time to take steps down my career path and continue to grow. I like the direction I'm headed in, and I hope you'll follow along and grow with me.
