The Ambidextrous Brain

I've never felt like I was either "right-brained" or "left-brained", so several years ago I decided I have an "ambidextrous" brain that balances the messy, chaotic creative with the ordered, logical analysis. This corner of bloggy-ness hosts my voice on creative business, productivity, DIY culture, community, and the occasional recipe from my kitchen.

A [Cheeky] Guide to Internet Citizenship

November 26, 2012

The Internet is a big, vast place populated by people the world over. Some even say it's "people, all the way down." Most of the people I know spend a large portion of their time on teh intarwebz, so I think it stands to reason that we can consider ourselves Citizens of the Web, and with great citizenship comes great responsibility. So what are the traits and duties of a model Internet citizen?

The Craft of Giving

November 22, 2012

While the politicians and economists in Washington ruminate over the looming "fiscal cliff" and try to come to an agreement on how best to create and re-establish jobs, I firmly believe that focusing our individual efforts right here at home gives us a chance to make a real difference in real lives.

The Antisocial Network, or, My Facebook Breakup

February 13, 2012

Facebook has deteriorated the way we interact with other people and convinced us that we need to spend all of our free time staying "connected" with our "friends" through their network. And for the last week, I've been trying to come up with one solid reason why I like using Facebook.

'Grammed

People, places, things, my dog, and the occasional selfie.

New addition to my ceramics collection: a salt cellar from a Georgia-based potter that I picked up at the @highmuseumofart shop last weekend. I love the colors, symbols, and how the pattern matches between the lid and base. Kicking myself that I didn’t snap a photo of the artist’s name on the shelf! I can’t remember their name.
Family.
Enchiladas, churro popcorn, and now, Bohemian Rhapsody. Fun night in with this angelic gem of a human!
Reading on a Saturday morning while I sip an americano makes me feel like an adult human who actually has his shit together.

It’s finally done! Justin got me a fan-designed set of instructions for Starbuck’s Viper from Battlestar Galactica for Christmas and we’ve spent the last three weeks scouting for parts and building it bit by bit. 2800 pieces, 22” long, and weighing in at 5 pounds, I feel like I’ve achieved the next level of LEGO nerd-dom. Definitely the most voluminous set I’ve ever built and so much fun to do something that wasn’t designed as an official set. We still have decals to print and apply, but the funner part is that he also gave me the plans to a Colonial Raptor and we’ve amassed 67% of the pieces so far. #legonerd #battlestargalactica #bsg #karathrace #sosayweall #vipermkii #legomoc
